Kijana

A lovely example of a modern 46 feet classic
yacht. Launched 1992
LOA 46 feet - Beam 12 feet, Draft 6 feet
Build at Bruce Parvin, NZ
Tonnage: 18 tons
Built very robustly in New Zealand in 1992 she is planked in Yanekaha Pine on Kauri
laminated frames.
The timber planking gives the interior a beautiful feel which is completed by the
varnished Macrocarpa deck beams and large deck skylights.
Recently surveyed to begin a circumnavigation by Jesse Martin and friends, Kijana is in
great condition and
will pass any inspection with flying colours. She was refitted in 2001 in Australia for
this voyage and so all equipment is in a first class state.
The ketch rig is well raked and with the teak decks, bowsprit and low coach roofs Kijana
has a very seamanlike look.
There is an aftcockpit with separate companionway to the aft cabin. This has it s own head
and desk space with plenty of drawers and storage.
A walkway leads forward through the light, airy engine room to the well equipped nav
area on starboard.
An additional companionway gives access to the deck here.
Galley with centreline sinks are to port and the saloon with large table and deck hatch
forward.
The interior is fitted out in maple which keeps the yacht light and gives her a sense of
space.
Further forward is the main heads and a v-berth in the bow.
Kijana has proven herself a sea kindly yacht in her travels from New Zealand and should
continue
to provide her new owners with a beautiful vessel capable of going anywhere.
