Eye of the Wind
Let your spirit set sails...
Classic 132' Brigantine - Completely renovated in 1976 and 2002

Movie Roles

Since completion of the original renovation in 1975 "Eye of The Wind" has appeared in many feature films and TV documentaries. The list includes:

"Blue Lagoon" starring Brooke Shields, where the first ten minutes story of two young castaways adventures in "paradise" were entirely set on the decks of Eye of The Wind, whilst sailing in the
Yasawa group of islands in Fiji.

"Savage Islands", with Tommy Lee Jones as a swash-buckling brigand on the South Seas was filmed in Fiji and New Zealand. The film became locally notorious for setting fire to one of the islands in the Bay of Islands, after a particularly spectacular climax to the movie!

A brief appearance alongside the Bounty replica in Moorea (the nearest island to Tahiti) during the filming of the remake of "Bounty" with Mel Gibson and Anthony Hopkins as the notorious Captain Bligh.

"Taipan", with Brian Browne, based on James Clavell's epic best-seller of the origins of Hong Kong was shot on location in China and Macau.

More recently, she has appeared in the Australian film "Desperate Fortune", telling the story of the great British navigator, Matthew Flinders and in Ridley-Scott’s "White Squall" where she starred as the ill fated "Albatross".

Most recently Eye of The Wind provided the fine sailing footage seen in the BBC Horizon documentary "The Search for Longitude" telling the story of John Harrison’s development of the first practical ship’s chronometer.

With the list of film credits outdoing many of the film actors who have
trod her decks, Eye of The Wind remains available for film charter work
on a World-wide basis.
